Urban Organics is a brand-new project to grow food and community in a repurposed flower greenhouse on 47th and York. To kick things off, we’re hosting a day of art, dialogue and action for 350.org!

  • Greenhouse tours
  • vermicompost & permaculture workshops
  • sign up for recovery act weatherization in your community
  • discussions on climate change & eco-equity + food justice in Brown & Black communities,
  • yoga classes
  • potluck-style GRUB… BAP (Bring a Pot of Food) + BYOP (Bring Your Own Plate)!

Denver has so many folks doing so many interesting projects relating to urban agriculture – greenhouses, neighborhood-supported agriculture, community gardens, school gardens, urban ag education, restaurants that source local food, and more.

It’s time to get to know each other and grow our Urban AgriCULTURE!

Bring food and libations to share – and think Colorado when planning what to bring! Come prepared to share your involvement and your projects and learn more about  other exciting projects and programs. This is a Zero waste event….please bring your own silverware, plates, napkins, etc. Remember to bring materials about your project to share and display on information tables.

This full-day intensive will give you a comprehensive overview of the permaculture paradigm. Through an engaging mix of lecture, group work, and hands-on activities, we’ll explore the following topics:

  • The fundamentals of energy descent and its implications
  • The ethics, principles and design process that form the heart of Permaculture
  • Recognizing patterns of sunlight, water, wind and soil and how they affect the landscape
  • History and characteristics our bioregion, the shortgrass steppe
  • Specific techniques for incorporating permaculture principles into your home and garden
  • Permaculture’s application to social and economic systems
  • The psychological dimensions of permaculture
